Rob Barron

Rob grew up in East Yorkshire and as a student studied at the Leeds College of Music where he won the prize for outstanding performance on the BA Hons degree program. In 2004 he went on to study a Masters in Music Performance at the Guildhall School of Music and since then has gained a reputation as being one of the most creative and versatile pianists of his generation. 
A specialist in jazz music Rob has worked with US stars Jarreau, Marlena Shaw, Bob Mintzer, 
 Phil Woods and Benny Golson and has recorded with MOBO award winning band Kairos Quartet as a member on their debut album. As a session musician Rob has worked both live and in the studio with Bryan Adams, Damon Albarn, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Vanessa Mae, Russell Watson, Paul Brady, Nadine Coyle, The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, The Ulster Orchestra, The Orchestra of the Welsh National Opera, The BBC Big Band, and is a regular member of The Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Orchestra. In 2012 Rob composed for and recorded piano and harmonium on Baz Lurhman’s Oscar winning re-adaption of F. Scott Fitzgerlad’s The Great Gatsby and performed in the house band at the closing ceremony of the Paralympics. He also worked with English National Ballet on their production of Strictly Gershwin, featuring the music of the legendary George Gershwin, tour- ing with a 50 piece orchestra around the UK for a sell out three month run.
