Simone Muller-Lotz

Simone was born in Cape Town, South Africa and began her training at The University of Cape Town Ballet School. She continued her training in the UK at Elmhurst Ballet School, The Royal Ballet Upper School and Central School of Ballet where she toured with Ballet Central. On graduating she joined Northern Ballet Theatre, touring the U.K. and China. She then returned to South Africa and joined Cape Town City Ballet. There she performed principal roles in The Nutcracker, The Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella as well as works by Rudi Van Danzig, Robert North, Heinz Spoerli and Balanchine. Simone was a finalist in the first South African International Ballet Competition.

 As a freelance dancer in South Africa she worked with Ballet Theatre Afrikan in Johannesburg, directed by Martin Schonberg, Free Flight Dance Company under the direction of Adele Blank and the Cape Dance Company directed by Debbie Turner, where she performed works by David Krugel (NDT) and Christopher Huggins (Alvin Ailey).

Since returning to the U.K. Simone has worked with several choreographers including Shobana Jeyasingh, Hubert Essakow, Mbulelo Ndabeni, Martin Joyce and performed in Faust with the Royal Opera and projects with New Movement Collective in London and Barcelona.

Her choreographic credits include Touch In the Night for the Baxter Dance Festival and Kol Galgal for the Cape Junior Ballet. Simone has taught ballet and dance conditioning at the Cape Academy of Performing Arts, La Rosa Spanish Dance Theatre and Dance For All. Simone holds an Honours degree in Psychology and is a qualified Pilates teacher.
