Rachel Steadman Musician
Rachel Steadman started learning the violin when she was six. She spent her early musical life in Cumbria before going on to study violin, viola and piano at the Colchester Institute of Music specialising in performance. On attaining a first class honours degree she moved to London to study with Krysia Osostovicz at the Guildhall school of music and drama.
Rachel now enjoys a truly varied and exciting career as a freelance violinist and violist. She has performed and recorded with The Halle, RPO, RTE Orchetrsa, The Glenn Miller Orchestra and the Heritage Orchestra.
Comercially she has played alongside Robbie Williams, Goldie, The Kaiser Chiefs, Andrea Bocelli and Kathrine Jenkins to name a few. She is also in demand as a session musician, having recorded for several EMI, Polydor and Universal artists. Recently she performed on Jamie Cullum's new album and the latest BBC series of 'Atlantis'.
West end credits include Top Hat, Ghost, Carousel and Maria Freidman. She has guest led the National Symphony Orchestra on their European arena tour of ABBA The Show.
Rachel is also part of the folk band Piefinger, with whom she has released two albums - 'Where you might go' and 'A countryman's favour'.
